Texas A&M University Rules and Regulations – License to Carry
On September 1, 2021, Texas House Bill No. 1927 (H.B. 1927), also known as the Firearms Carry Act of 2021, took effect in Texas, addressing open carry and license-to-carry. House Bill No. 1927 amended Texas Penal Code sections 46.02 and 46.03 to allow qualified persons to carry handguns, open or concealed, without a license in certain places and under certain circumstances.
It is the opinion of the Office of General Counsel of the Texas A&M University System that Texas A&M University does not qualify as a location where firearms of any kind may be openly carried. Texas A&M University allows an individual to carry a concealed handgun in accordance with the laws and regulations of the State of Texas and the Rules and Regulations set forth by Texas A&M University.
State of Texas – Texas Penal Code:
A person may not carry concealed at Texas A&M University if: UNLICENSED CARRYING OF FIREARMS IS PROHIBITED, Pursuant to Texas Penal Code, Section 30.05, 30.06, and 30.07.
