Hiring Process Steps

Below is an outline of the steps in the hiring process. Each step must be successfully completed to progress to the next phase.​
  1. Applications:  Check our webpage https://jobpath.tamu.edu/​ for current opening. Depending on qualifications, a recruiter will then contact you to complete a typing test.   
  2. If you have any questions regarding the application process, please contact a recruiter at 979-458-8552.
  3. Personal History Statement: A comprehensive personal background document required in addition to the basic application. Candidates may be disqualified for failure to provide required documents, and for omissions, misrepresentations, or falsificat​ions on the PHS.​
  4. Typing Test (Office Staff Only): Each applicant will be required to successfully complete a test. Applicants who fail to take the test on the scheduled dates will be disqualified. Only candidates receiving a passing grade on the typing test will proceed to the next step.
  5. Preliminary Interview: Applicants will be asked to appear before the Lieutenant of Recruitment and Personnel for a​ preliminary interview.
  6. Background Investigation: A thorough investigation is conducted on each applicant.
  7. Oral Interview Board: Results of background investigation will be reviewed by selected interview panel.
  8. Final Board: Those that pass the Oral Interview will be recommended to the Chief of Police.
  9. Chief's Interview: Applicants who successfully complete all previous phases of the application process will interview with the Chief of Police.​​
