Active Shooter Safety
An active shooter is an individual who is actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a confined and populated area. In most cases, active shooters use firearms, and there is usually no clear pattern or method to their selection of victims.
These unpredictable situations can evolve rapidly, often leaving little or no time for preparation. Typically, the immediate response of law enforcement is required to stop the threat and reduce harm. However, because these incidents often conclude before officers arrive, individuals need to be mentally and physically prepared to respond.
